Admire the panoramic sights of grandeur from the main observation platform at the 333 metre long lattice Tokyo Tower before you continue to the Meiji Shrine, a remarkable attraction in terms of Japanese shrine architecture.

The tour takes you on to observe the Akasaka State Guest House, which is a former imperial palace used for diplomatic activities. Next you move on to the Imperial Palace, the main residence of the Emperor of Japan and enjoy a peaceful walk around the East Garden, a place of enormous historical interest and colourful beauty. Finish off with a drive through Ginza - the high end shopping and fashion district where you will soak up the neon hustle and bustle of this hub of endless entertainment.

Leave Tokyo in the morning for Mount Fuji and Hakone. Driving by coach along the Tomei Expressway, admire the picturesque scenery of rural Honshu and the skyline dominated by the mythical Mount Fuji, which on a clear day can be seen from Tokyo some 100km away. 

Take a breather from all the excitement with a grilled chicken lunch at Hakone Lake Hotel (a vegetarian menu is available on request). In the afternoon, enjoy a sightseeing tour by coach around Hakone, which is famed throughout Japan for the Hakone Gongen Shinto shrine, and hop aboard a sky gondola for unbeatable views of the calm waters of Lake Ashi, Mount Fuji and the volcanic clouds of the Owakudani Boiling Valley.

Visit the Boiling Valley itself, site of a crater where you can smell sulphurous fumes and see clouds of steam rise from crevasses. You may also hear of a hard-boiled way to live longer! Finally, release your inner child with a scenic pirate ship cruise across the peaceful Lake Ashi, enjoying the serene natural beauty of the crater lake, under the shadow of the magnificent Mount Fuji. The ships are modelled on medieval vessels and with the unspoiled environment; you’d be forgiven for thinking you had travelled back in time.
